Winter Kayaking Admin To Do’s without blowing the budget

Winter is the time to be ready for summer and Flow Kayaks can help with budget-friendly solutions and advice.

  1. If you have all the gear you need, then maintenance, repair, and a little love will go a long way to making your summer more pleasant and less stressful.

    • Check all your gear for damage or ideal upgrades to sustain it for another season.

Flow Kayaks has ways to do repairs and upgrades to your boat and paddle resulting in a great finish while working to your budget with no nasty surprises on the wallet or the outcome.

See here for our process: https://flowkayaks.co.nz/blog/repairs-process

  2. Review your insurance and check that it’s up to scratch so you don’t get any surprises when something has already gone wrong. The last thing you want is to be out of pocket when you’re already down on luck in the damage department. We’ll publish more on kayak insurance in the coming weeks as this is a common conversation. The warning here is that we’ve had a few customers in the last 6 months that haven’t listed their kayaks on their policy and have received $3000 or less before excess for what would technically be a full write-off. Keep an eye out for future articles on this topic.

  3. If you intend to change kayak or paddle, winter is the time to do it. If you plan to upgrade to a higher-performing kayak, the sooner the better so you can adapt and improve before hitting the river in spring.  Flow currently has a range of stock and second-hand boats coming up soon. Our lead time on new, customised kayaks is currently approximately 3 weeks depending on model and customisations. https://flowkayaks.co.nz/stock-and-second-hand-boats

  4. Get some wing paddle technique coaching while flat water training is the flavour. Check out our coaches for some suggestions hopefully not far from you.  https://flowkayaks.co.nz/distributors

As always, we like being accessible at Flow Kayaks so if you have any questions or would like to discuss any of the above then get in touch.
