Why a Flow Kayaks VE?
The new VE model is built with a higher-quality resin called Vinyl-Ester. The benefits of this are numerous. Continue reading for why we’ve made the switch and all of the bonus improvements we’ve been able to make because of it.

Our investment is now passed on to you. A Flow Kayaks VE in the best investment you can make.
Why Vinylester?
Unmatched Durability and Flexibility
Vinylester resin offers exceptional durability and flexibility. Unlike Polyester resin, Vinylester can withstand greater strain and stress, making it ideal for the rigors of kayaking. This flexibility translates to a more resilient kayak that can handle rough waters and impact without compromising its structural integrity.
Superior Water Resistance
Vinylester resin boasts a significantly lower water absorption rate compared to Polyester resin. This means that your kayak remains lighter, more buoyant, and performs better in the long run. Say goodbye to the worries of water infiltration and the potential for osmosis damage.
Enhanced Bonding Strength
The molecular structure of Vinylester resin allows for a stronger bond with reinforcing fibres such as kevlar and carbon fibre that are what Flow boats are solely made from. This ensures that your kayak is stronger and more durable, providing a safer and more reliable experience on the water.
Improved Thermal Stability
Vinylester resin exhibits greater thermal stability than Polyester resin, which means it can withstand higher temperatures without degrading. This is crucial for maintaining the integrity of your kayak in varying weather conditions and prolonged sun exposure.
Resistance to Chemical and Environmental Degradation
Vinylester resin is highly resistant to chemicals and environmental elements. Whether it’s exposure to saltwater, UV rays, or harsh chemicals, Vinylester outperforms Polyester resin, ensuring that your kayak remains in top condition for longer.
New Laminating Schedule
Because vinylester has a stronger bond and more robust sealing, we have been able to shift the carbon fibre to the surface beside the gel coat. This means that, while repairs are less likely, in the event of damage, repairs will be cheaper, quicker, and have a tidier finish than previously with Kevlar beside the gel coat.
All of these changes have only enhanced the safety we’ve always displayed in the layup. Kevlar and/or Twaron or a similar product should always be the closest layer to the paddler as they hold everything together and out of the cockpit if an impact occurs.
Investment in Quality and Longevity
Choosing Vinyl-Ester resin is an investment in the quality and longevity of your kayak. While the initial cost is higher than Polyester resin (double in fact), the long-term benefits far outweigh the price difference. With a Vinyl-Ester resin kayak, you are investing in a product that delivers superior performance, durability, and reliability.
We source only the best materials from reputable, New Zealand-based, expert suppliers who in turn only source from manufacturers in the UK, Europe and USA.
So if you want a kayak that can go the distance, stand the test of time and maintain value for a long time to come then you can’t look past our VE models.
